Event Custom Fields

Event custom fields enable you to create bespoke data models for your events by allowing you to collect and store data that is not accommodated by the system's default settings.

Adding a custom field

Please review the Field Types and UI Elements documentation to guide you in creating your custom fields.

To add a custom field:

  1. Navigate to Events from the main menu.
  2. Select Custom Fields.
  3. Select EDIT CUSTOM FIELDS.
  4. Select ADD CUSTOM FIELD.
  5. Fill out the form for adding a custom field.
  6. Select SAVE FIELD.
  7. Select SAVE.

These are the input requirements and descriptions for adding a custom field:

Input LabelTypeRequiredDescription
Field Name Input Field Yes Name or label for the field. Insites cleans this field label automatically to follow internal database standards. For example, 'Sample Field' will become 'sample_field' in the database.
Column Name Display Field No The field name used internally by Insites.
Field Type Dropdown Field Yes The field type used by the custom field.
UI Element Dropdown Field Yes The front-end element used to gather data from users. Options depend on the field type chosen.
Note

Newly created custom fields are automatically incorporated into the existing opportunities. These new custom fields can be used when modifying opportunities created before the new custom field.

Updating a custom field

To update a custom field:

  1. Navigate to Events from the main menu.
  2. Select Custom Fields.
  3. Select EDIT CUSTOM FIELDS.
  4. Select the custom field you want to update.
  5. Make your changes.
  6. Select SAVE.

Using custom fields

To use a custom field on an event:

  1. Navigate to Events from the main menu.
  2. Select All Events.
  3. Find the event you want to use a custom field on and select its Edit row action link.
  4. Navigate to the 'Custom Fields' tab.
  5. Make your changes.
  6. Select SAVE.

Deleting a custom field

To delete a custom field:

  1. Navigate to Events from the main menu.
  2. Select Custom Fields.
  3. Select EDIT CUSTOM FIELDS.
  4. Select the custom field you want to delete.
  5. Select DELETE CUSTOM FIELD.
