Instance Admin (IIA)

Last updated on June 19, 2024

The Instance Admin or IIA is the command center of an Instance where all types of user personas work together to manage, maintain, and improve the Instance to achieve organizational goals. These users are called Instance Administrators whose permissions can be further managed in the Instance.

Instance Administrators differ from Console Users in that their access is limited to a specific Instance and not the Console. Typically, Instance Administrators consist of site administrators, content managers, and in-house developers who are tasked to work on a specific Instance.

An Instance

This document discusses the two ways of logging in to an Instance:

  • Single Sign-On (SSO)
  • Admin Invitations

Single Sign-On (SSO)

SSO is an authentication mechanism that allows Console users to log in once and gain access to multiple Instances without having to re-enter their credentials for each individual Instance.

Console users may log in to any Instance using the following steps:

  1. Find the Instance you want to log in to from the 'Instances' page or in one of the folders.
  2. Select 'Log in to Instance Admin' .

Admin Invitations

Instance Administrators gain access to an Instance via invitation by other Instance Administrators. To invite a user to an Instance:

  1. Log in to the Instance you want to invite a user to.
  2. Navigate to Settings from the main menu.
  3. Select Administrators.
  4. Select ADD ADMINISTRATOR.
  5. Fill out the form.
  6. Select SAVE.
Note

Please visit the Administrators documentation for more details on managing Instance Administrators.
