Adding a Location

To add a location:

  1. Navigate to the Locator from the main menu.
  2. Select Locations.
  3. Select ADD LOCATION.
  4. Fill out the input fields in each of the forms on the following tabs:

    • Details
    • Content
    • Address
    • Contact Details
    • Social Media
    • Open Hours
    • Sitemap
    • Metadata
    • Open Graph
    • Schema
    • Media
    • Gallery
    • System Fields
    • Custom Fields
    • FAQs

    The input descriptions in each form on the tabs listed above are discussed in their corresponding section in this article.

  5. Select ADD LOCATION.

Details

Provide general information about the location you are adding to this tab. Input requirements and descriptions are described in the table below:

Enable Location Toggle No Toggle to enable or disable location.
Location Name Text Field Yes Name of the location.
Slug Text Field No Uniform Resource Locator (URL) slug for this location.
Category Dropdown Field No Category of the location you are creating.
Start Date Date Field No The date when the location was added to the web application.
End Date Date Field No The date when the location is no longer displayed on the web application.

Content

Use this tab to input the content for your location.

Short Description Code Editor No Short description of the location.
Long Description Code Editor No Lengthy, more detailed description of the location.
Location Image Clickable Area No Image of the location.
Pin Icon Clickable Area No Image used as the pin appearance for the location on the web application.

Address

Provide the location's address details on the form on this tab. Input requirements and descriptions are outlined in the table below:

County Text Field No The county where the address is located.
District Text Field No The district where the address is located.
Suburb Text Field No The suburb where the address is located.
State Text Field No The state or region where the address is located.
Country Dropdown Field No The country of the location.
Country Code Dropdown Field No Country code of the location.
Postal Code Text Field No Postal code of the location.
GeoJSON Text Area No GeoJSON snippet of the location.

Contact Details

Use this tab to provide contact details for the location.

Social Media

Use this tab to input the social media details.

Snapchat Input Field No Link to the location's Snapchat.
Social 1 Input Field No Link to the location's other social media account.
Social 2 Input Field No Link to the location's other social media account.

Open Hours

Indicate your locations' open hours on this tab. Scroll to the day(s) of the week that you want to set up, then provide your inputs on the following input fields:

Open on <day of week> Toggle No The toggle indicates if the location is open on the preferred day of the week.
Opening Time Time Field No The opening time for the location.
Closing Time Time Field No The closing time for the location.
Notes Text Area No Notes regarding the location's open hours.

Sitemap

Provide details for the automatically generated sitemap on this tab. Input requirements and descriptions are outlined in the table below:

Add To System Site Map Toggle No Toggle to include or exclude this location page from the system-generated XML Sitemap
Priority Numeric Field No The priority of this URL relative to other URLs on the site. Valid values range from 0.0 to 1.0. URLs are sorted in descending order.
Order Numeric Field No The order of the URL in relation to other URLs if they have the same priority value. URLs with the same priority values are sorted in ascending order.
Change Frequency Dropdown Field No

Sets how often search engine bots crawl your page to check for updates. Some values are:

  • Always
  • Daily
  • Monthly
  • Never

Note that crawlers treat the values chosen as a 'hint,' not a 'command.' For example, crawlers may crawl pages marked 'hourly' less frequently.

Metadata

Provide your location's metadata on this tab. Input requirements and descriptions are outlined in the table below:

Canonical URLText FieldNoA canonical URL used to prevent duplicate content issues in SEO.
Meta Title Text Field No Meta title of the page. A good title has between 40 - 60 characters.
Meta Description Text Field No Meta description of the page. A good meta description has between 150 - 160 characters.

You can then copy the snippet at the bottom of the page to add the metadata to your location page.

Open Graph

Open Graph is an internet protocol that standardizes metadata usage within a webpage, allowing you to optimize content to stand out relative to other internet content in places such as social networks. Use this tab to configure your Open Graph settings. Input requirements and descriptions are displayed in the table below:

Use Meta Title as Open Graph Title Toggle No Toggle to use the meta title (set in the 'Metadata' tab) as the Open Graph title or provide a different title.
Open Graph Title Text Field No Open Graph title of the location. The field is only editable if 'Use Meta Title As Open Graph Title' is disabled.
Use Meta Description as Open Graph Description Toggle No Use the meta description (set in the 'Metadata' tab) as the Open Graph description or use a different description.
Open Graph Description Text Field No The Open Graph description of your location. The field is editable only if 'Use Meta Description As Open Graph Description' is disabled. This 1 - 2 sentence snippet is displayed in the post and can mean the difference between getting clicks or not.
Open Graph Image Image Picker No Image for the preview of your content. The maximum file size is 10MB.
Open Graph URL Text Field No Open Graph URL (link) associated with your content.
Open Graph Site Name Text Field No The meta tag used to specify the name of the website where the location is hosted.
Open Graph Type Text Field No Type of content, i.e., website, article, and blog.

After filling out the fields, copy the snippet on the bottom of the form to add Open Graph to your location page.

Schema

Schema markup is a structured data vocabulary that helps search engines understand parts of your web application more deeply. It enables search engines to serve better results to end-users. Use the code editor field on this tab to write the schema markup for your location.

You may use the variables on the 'Toolbox' pane to build your schema markup. After filling out the editor, copy and paste the snippet at the bottom of the form to add metadata, Open Graph, and Schema to your page.

Media

Use this tab to add images or files related to the location you are adding. Input requirements and descriptions are outlined below:

Gallery

Add more location images on this tab. Input requirements and descriptions are outlined below:

System Fields

System fields enable you to collect or store data not included or pre-defined in the default fields. Please refer to our Locator System Fields document for more details on managing and configuring system fields.

Custom Fields

Customize your locator and handle unique requirements on your web application using custom fields. These fields are built and configured using the custom fields builder. Read the article Managing Custom Fields to learn more.

FAQs

Use this tab to add frequently asked questions (FAQs) to the location.

First, indicate general information like the section heading for your FAQs section. Input requirements and descriptions are displayed below:
