Product Options and Variants

You can add and manage product options and variants in Insites Ecommerce, providing your online store customers with an enhanced array of choices.

For instance, envision a T-shirt store. Within this context, product options represent the individual attributes that can vary, such as size, color, or material for a T-shirt. These options are defined independently and can be combined in various ways to create product variants.

Conversely, product variants are specific combinations of product options that represent a distinct sellable item. For example, a 'red cotton T-shirt in size XS' would be a product variant. Each variant has its own unique SKU, price, inventory status, and other relevant attributes.

The beauty of this system lies in its flexibility. You can incorporate an unlimited number of attribute combinations into a product. Each attribute set contributes to a unique product variant with its SKU, price, inventory status, and other distinctive attributes.

Managing product options

You can add, update, and delete product options. The next sections discuss the steps in detail.

Adding a product option

To add an option to a product:

1. Navigate to Ecommerce from the main menu.
2. Select Products.
3. Find the product to which you want to add an option and select its Edit row action link.
4. Navigate to the 'Variants' tab.
5. Enable product variants using the 'Product Variants' toggle.
6. Select ADD VARIANT OPTION.
7. Fill out the form for adding a product option.
8. Select ADD OPTION.
9. Click SAVE.

Updating a product option

To update a product option:

1. Navigate to Ecommerce from the main menu.
2. Select Products.
3. Find the product whose product option you want to update and select its Edit row action link.
4. Navigate to the 'Variants' tab.
5. Select CONFIGURE ATTRIBUTES.
6. Find and click on the Attribute you want to update.
7. Make your changes and click SAVE.
8. Click SAVE at the bottom of the form to finalise your changes.

Deleting a product option

To delete a product option:

1. Navigate to Ecommerce from the main menu.
2. Select Products.
3. Find the product whose option you want to delete and select its Edit row action link.
4. Navigate to the 'Variants' tab.
5. Find the product option you want to delete and select its Delete row action link.
6. Confirm the deletion of the product option using the confirmation modal.
7. Finalize the deletion of the product option by selecting SAVE.

Managing product variants

Product variants are made from a combination of product options. Creating product variants requires predefined product options. Establish these options first for a more efficient workflow.

Adding a product variant

To add a product variant:

1. Navigate to Ecommerce from the main menu.
2. Select Products.
3. Find the product to which you want to add a variant and select its Edit row action link.
4. Navigate to the 'Variants' tab.
5. Select ADD VARIANT.
6. Fill out the form for creating your product variant.
7. Select ADD VARIANT.

Updating a product variant

To update a product variant:

1. Navigate to Ecommerce from the main menu.
2. Select Products.
3. Find the product whose variant you want to update and select its Edit row action link.
4. Navigate to the 'Variants' tab.
5. Find the product variant you want to update and select its Edit row action link.
6. Make your changes.
7. Select SAVE.

Deleting a product variant

To delete a product variant:

1. Navigate to Ecommerce from the main menu.
2. Select Products.
3. Find the product whose variant you want to delete and select its Edit row action link.
4. Navigate to the 'Variants' tab.
5. Find the product variant you want to delete and select its Delete row action link.
6. Finalize the deletion of the product variant using the confirmation modal.
