Front end

GitHub repository

  • Create a new GitHub repository or connect an existing one from the Repository card. A new repository starts with the instance's code, and GitHub only opens to give Insites access
  • If creating a repository isn't available, the first screen offers Give Insites access instead
  • The Repository card now shows when the last deployment has no commit
  • The Repository and People with access cards hold their place while an instance's Overview loads

Connecting a domain

  • The records step asks you to confirm "I have created these records" before Finish, then says Checking rather than Connecting
  • While Console waits for your records, it says how often it checks and when it will email you
  • A value that's still on its way reads "Getting value" until it arrives
  • The www redirect is marked "(recommended)", and Console warns you before a main domain's www address is dropped
  • If the www address is already in use, the domain's page offers Keep www or Turn off www anyway, instead of staying on Connecting
  • A connection that timed out but went through now takes you straight to the domain

DNS records

  • Each record shows its TTL, with a short explanation of what TTL means
  • A mismatched record shows in red, with what was found and what was expected
  • Check now counts down on its button until you can check again
  • A check that finishes after you've stopped waiting still shows its result
  • A connected domain's records load without refreshing the page

Insites DNS and nameservers

  • Console asks you to confirm you've changed your nameservers before it checks them
  • The nameserver check always comes to an end, and a domain no longer shows Connected while it's still waiting for its nameservers
  • Nameserver and DNSSEC instructions now say to make the change where the domain is registered

Instance details

  • The instance's ⋮ menu keeps actions your role can't use in place but disabled, and updating modules no longer blocks Move to folder
  • Changing a module's version: a clearer confirmation, one request per press, and everyone viewing the instance sees the change in progress
  • The version list no longer offers rolling back across a breaking release
  • Marketplace items show when an install is in progress
  • The About card shows the date the instance was created and hides the tag area when there are no tags, and Edit is disabled for Viewers
  • Edit details: a URL that's already taken is reported on its field, the URL keeps the format you typed, and a tag removed from the account can no longer be saved
  • Move to folder says when the folder list is loading or couldn't load
  • Delete says why when it's refused
  • Back returns you to where you were on the page, and a direct link to CLI Commands or Logs opens correctly
  • CLI tab: fixed apostrophes, link hover and copy button icons

Emails

  • Instance created goes to the account owner, every admin and the person who created it
  • Couldn't create instance goes to every admin, including when a new instance's setup fails
  • Instance deleted goes to the owner and every admin

Also in this release

  • Signing in without a Console account now takes you to your instance, or to a list of your instances, instead of an empty Console
  • Recently created on the Instances list now sorts by when each instance was added to your account
  • New instances with nothing extra to set up now connect to CloudShell straight away
  • Form errors look the same across Console, the tag picker and date range filter have a refreshed look, and screen readers hear the exact time behind every relative date
  • Security: an instance can now read only its own details from Console
  • Release notes for Console and modules now appear on the What's New page of docs.insites.io

Backend

New

  • GitHub repositories can be linked, created and connected from Console and from the instance admin, by Developers and above. An instance linked from Console deploys on push, and CMS saves on an instance linked through CloudShell are committed to its repository.
  • Deleting an instance now removes its domains at the hosting partner first, the same way Remove does.
  • A domain connect left unfinished at the records step is released automatically after a day.

Changed

  • The records step lists only the SSL records the hosting partner actually issued, so a main domain on an A record no longer waits on "Couldn't get this value".
  • A domain's page lists its www address only when the hosting partner really serves it.
  • Finish won't drop a www address that's live through Insites unless you confirm it.
  • When an instance has no default domain to keep, connecting a main domain makes the main domain the default, never its www.
  • Signing in no longer counts access to instances inside your own accounts, so a member who created several instances lands on their Dashboard.

Fixed

  • Check now answers within 15 seconds.
  • Finish no longer fails with "Couldn't connect".
  • Domains on Insites DNS no longer get stuck on "Waiting for your nameserver change".
  • A domain on Insites DNS that has MX records now connects.
  • A live domain's records are read again on Check now, so records it no longer needs are replaced.
  • A www address that points at Insites but isn't being served is now flagged.
  • The DNS records email for a connected domain keeps the DMARC record after it's published.
  • A staging instance created from the ready-made pool lists the person who created it as its Email Notification Recipient, not an Insites system address.
