The Insites Logic Engine is a public library of rules and reference docs that teaches AI assistants how to build on Insites. Give it to your AI before you start, and it builds your website or application the way Insites expects: in the right folders, with the right conventions, and making full use of the platform instead of working around it.

It lives in a public GitHub repository: github.com/insites-io/insites-logic-engine.

Why Your AI Needs It

AI assistants are good at writing code, but they do not know the details of Insites on their own. Without guidance, an AI fills the gaps with guesses based on other platforms. The Logic Engine replaces those guesses with what is actually true on Insites, so you get:

  • Code that works the first time - correct file locations, naming, Liquid, GraphQL, and forms.
  • Code that fits the platform - built on Insites features such as the CRM, databases, forms, and modules rather than reinventing them.
  • Code your team can maintain - every project follows the same conventions, whoever or whatever wrote it.

What Is Inside

  • Reference docs - how each part of Insites works, organized by topic: pages and layouts, data and schema, forms, Liquid, authentication, notifications, modules, and more.
  • Rules - the conventions to follow and the mistakes to avoid, each one written so an AI can apply it.
  • Decision guides - which approach to choose for common tasks, such as where a piece of logic should live.

How to Use It

Give your AI assistant the link to the repository and tell it to use it. You do not need to install anything yourself: most AI assistants can read a GitHub repository directly, and how yours loads it is up to you. Paste this at the start of your project:

Before you write any code for this project, read the Insites Logic Engine at
https://github.com/insites-io/insites-logic-engine

Start with skills/insites/SKILL.md and follow its decision trees, then use the
reference docs in skills/insites/references/ and the rules in logic-engine/rules/.
Whenever you are unsure how something works on Insites, check the Logic Engine
first instead of guessing, and follow its conventions over your own assumptions.

That is all it takes. From then on, your AI checks the Logic Engine whenever it needs to know how something works on Insites.

Tip

The Logic Engine teaches your AI how to build. CloudShell is what lets it deploy. Use both together for the full workflow, as described in Getting Set Up with Insites v6 and AI.

Staying Up to Date

The Logic Engine is updated as Insites evolves. Because your AI reads it from the public repository, it always works from the latest version. If your AI has saved a copy, ask it to refresh from the repository at the start of a new piece of work.
