Who is in the admin Beta
Last updated 4 November 2026
Header chips show who is signed in and where they are. Click one to follow a teammate.
What the chips show
Team collaboration is pre-release. This page was written against the build of 4 November 2026 and will be revised at release.
While you are signed in to the admin, a row of small round chips appears in the header, just left of the instance switcher. Each chip is one person who is in the admin right now, shown by their initials in a color that stays the same for them everywhere. Your own chip is always among them, so you can check it is working. When someone signs out or closes their last admin tab, their chip goes shortly after; if their connection dropped rather than closed, it can linger for a minute or two before it clears.
- Up to four chips are shown. When more people are in, the last chip reads +2, +3 and so on. Point at it to see their names.
- Point at a chip to see the person's name and the screen they are on, for example Ana Reyes · Contacts.
- A ring around a chip, in that person's color, means they are on the same screen as you.
The chips update as people move around the admin, so a glance at the header tells you who is working where.
Follow a teammate
Click a chip to jump to the screen that person is on. A Following pill appears at the top of the window and you keep moving with them: each time they open another screen, your admin opens it too. This is useful on a call, when one person is showing the others around.
To stop following, click the chip again, click Stop on the pill, or press Escape. Following also stops on its own when the person leaves the admin.
Following moves you between screens only. It never opens drawers, fills in fields or saves anything, and the person you follow is not told.
Who sees the chips
The chips are shown to administrators of the instance, and only administrators of that instance appear in them. Visitors to your public site are never shown. Each instance has its own set of chips, so people working in another instance do not appear in yours.
Nothing about presence is stored. The chips, screen names and cursors exist only while people are signed in, and there is no history to look back on.
If you do not see the chips
- You are the only person in the admin. Your own chip is still shown, so you can check it is working.
- Your browser blocks the connection the chips use. The admin works as normal without them, so nothing else is affected.
- A teammate has the admin open in a background tab. Their chip appears when they return to that tab.
Everyday examples
- Showing someone around. On a call, say follow me and have the other person click your chip. Each screen you open, theirs opens too, and your pointer shows them the exact field or button as you talk.
- Before a long edit. You open Automations and see a ring around a chip: that person is already on this screen. Point at the chip, see Ana Reyes · Automations, and agree who is changing what before you start.
- Looking at a problem together. A teammate reports something odd on a screen. Click their chip to land where they are and look at it together, with both pointers visible, instead of trading screenshots.
