Track work with tasks

Last updated 4 November 2026

Assign work against a company or contact and see what is due.

Tasks are the follow-ups your team owes a company or a contact: call back on Tuesday, send the quote, chase the invoice. Each task belongs to a company or a contact, is assigned to an administrator, and shows up in that person's list until it is done. This guide creates one and shows where to find it.

Create a task

  1. In the admin, go to CRM > Contacts (or Companies) and open the record.
  2. Open the Tasks tab and select Add Task.
  3. Give it a Task Name, an optional description, and pick who it is Assigned To. The list holds the administrators of the instance, so invite your team first if they are missing; see Add administrators. Set a due date.
  4. Select Add Task. New tasks start as Open.

Note

A task is always created on a contact or a company. There is no free-floating task, which is what keeps every follow-up tied to the record it is about.

See what is due

Go to Tasks in the main menu. My Tasks lists the tasks assigned to you, and All Tasks the whole team's. Open a task to read it, select Edit to change it, or add a comment to record what happened. The same tasks also show on the record's Tasks tab, and the dashboard's CRM tab counts the ones overdue.

Finish a task

Open the task and select Mark as completed. It leaves the open lists but stays on the record, so the history of what was done for that contact is kept.
